MORE SOON
14th April 2003
Gareth and I have been working in the garden for the past few days, taking a break from working inside
the house while the weather is good. I have tidied the lawns and dug flower beds at the top lawn area. I have previously removed the old cold frame and made a rockery in it`s place. At the moment we are using the top lawn to sit out in the sun until we have finished the seating area at the old avairy end. A few changes of plans have to take place. For the time being I am keeping two seperate lawns and using the old veg area for children`s area. I will be putting in a greenhouse as planned but not a shed, we will use the existing store room as a shed/workshop/store room (it`s big enough!)We are not keeping a roof over the planned sitting area, the roof wasn`t good enough to keep and it would make it too shaded. I might add a pond too!
Gareth has been busy taking down the old avairies. Here are a few photo`s so far!
Top lawn area...
note: we have recently had a new main roof fitted to the house, you can see the new main roof and the new flat roof we had done
last year.
Next we need to get the outside walls done
My main flower bed area, you can see the old veg area behind it which will be the children`s area for a while, beyond that the far lawn which is mainly for the dog, and the rubbish which is mounting up from all the aviaries and sheds we are taking down. We are set to gain about another 20 foot or more land!!!
Viewed from inside the store room...
all this mess is from the old aviaries and sheds we are taking down!
Another view from inside the store room... this one shows how much extra land we are gaining.
Nearest the store room is the concrete base from the inside avairy... this will become our seating area. Middle, the gravel base from the outside aviary... the gravel will be removed, this is where I hope to put a greenhouse next to the fence and maybe a pond in the middle... the earth base is where there was a wooden base/decking, which was rotten, and slimy when wet!... this is where we might grow veg but we haven`t really decided yet. Beyond that is the far lawn (the dog`s) then the old veg area (the children`s) then my flower beds
and top lawn.
I have overlapped these pics to try and show the entire store room side...
this is just one side of it!
This is the other side!
The entire floor was covered with wooded base, which was rotten, filthy and damp.
See what I mean about it being big enough to make stables?!
The wet patches are where Gareth blasted the floor and walls with the pressure washer!

22nd AUGUST 2003

We have spent the last 2 weeks clearing the rubbish. One skip has gone and we have tidied all the rest of the rubbish ready for the next skip. There are just a few rocks and bricks by the shed to move and some wood and bits along the side of the garden. The old shed roof (metal box sheets) are currently laying on the grass. The table and chairs are finally up on the "seating" area. We decided to use the gravel bit as well to make a large patio area...we will be putting slabs in when we can. On the bit that is currently wood chip, I hope to put a pond, then what was to be a play area will be veg, the lawns staying where they are for now. The children are happier playing out so don`t want a playing area. (The park with swings, paddling pool etc is less than 2 minutes walk!)
Gareth has done a bit more to the shed now he can get to it. I have taken some photo`s...
