CHRISTMAS TREE BAWBLE 2 |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
This version of my bawble is a bit more difficult and takes a bit more time to do. For this tutorial you will need a fill pattern, a glass globe tube and a decoration top tube. I made all my own but any you have will work fine. If you don`t have suitable tubes you can download mine HERE. You will need to unzip the files into your tubes folder before you can use the tubes. If you want my fill pattern feel free to right click my pattern below and save on your computer. |
...This is how I make my bawbles... |
Not shown full size |
Start a new transparent and make your settings as fig 1 |
If using my fill pattern, open it in psp and minimse it (click the minus sign at
the top) Click on your flood fill tool, then open your "styles" pallette. Select the pattern you want to use with settings as fig 2. Click ok. |
Click on your blank canvas to fill with the pattern. (fig 3) |
Go to layers / merge / merge visible. You now need more blank canvas so you can work on making the ball into a bawble. Go to image / canvas size and make settings as in fig 7a |
Now go to layers / add new raster layer and make settings as in fig 5. |
Click on your tubes tool, right click it and select tool options. Choose your globe tube and resize to fit the ball if needed. Click ok. (fig 6) |
Click on the ball to add the tube. Click on the deformation tool and resize/reposition the globe to fit the ball. Now go back to the deformation tool / tool options and click apply (fig 7) |
Close the retouch tool dialogue box. Now use the tool to "push" colour from the bawble top onto the canvas, to make a "neck". Also, use the retouch tool to push colour from the bottom of the bawble, to form a point. (fig 11) |
*** Go to layers / new raster layer, settings as fig 18. |
Now click above your bawble to add the top, click the deformation tool and use it to resize / reposition the top until it looks like fig 20. |
Click the deformation tool then right click it. Select tool options and click apply.
Close the dialogue box. Next go to layers / merge / merge visible. Click on the magic wand tool then click on a blank part of the canvas. Then go to selections / invert to select just the bawble. Now go to edit / copy / edit / paste as new image. That`s it, your own fancy Christmas tree bawble. You can now tube it to use any time you want. Go to file / export / picture tube. Name your graphic then click save. Why not try different fill patterns, add christmas tubes, use christmas images, add jewells, holly, bows or other decorations!!! |
This tutorial was written for P.S.P version 7, but should easily convert for other
versions. |

Next go to effects / geometric effects / circle. You should now have a patterned
ball as fig 4. |

Next click on your retouch tool, right click on it and select tool options. You now need to set two boxes in this tool, make the box settings as in fig 9 &10. |

Click on the deformation tool, then drag the sides of the ball inwards to form an oval shape. (fig 8) |

If you are happy with your "point" you can skip the next part, (restart from ***) but very few actually turn out perfect at this stage. If this is the case, click on the freehand tool and right click it, make settings as fig 12. |

Drag the pointer round the bawble, bottom left, tidying up the edge and point, left click as you go, then take it back towards the start but away from the bawble until the ends join together. Click several times on the cutting tool to snip away the untidy edge. (fig 13) |

Now click on the selection tool, and drag the pointer over the right hand half of the bawble to select a rectangle of it, (fig 14)click inside the rectange then click the cutting tool or hit delete and remove the selected half. (fig 15) Drag another rectangle over the remaining half, click inside it, go edit / copy / edit / paste as new layer (fig 16) then go image / mirror. Join the two halves together thus making a perfectly even bawble. (fig 17) Merge the layers, and if your glass layer has highlights which now look odd, very carefully push colour with the retouch tool and edit one out. |

Click on your tubes tool, right click it and select tool options. Choose your decoration top tube and close dialogue box. (fig 19) |
