MAKE A DALMATIAN |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |

I have seen some really fantastic animal tutorials around, but wanted one of a dalmatian.
I couldn`t find one, so decided to see if I can make one myself. Based loosely on my own dalmatian "Domino" this is what I have come up with! |
Open the kkdallyspots.jpg fill and minimise it. Start a new transparent image 524 pixels wide x 381 pixels deep. Add a new raster layer and call it "head". Go selections / load from disk and open kkdalhead.sel. set your styles pallette for pattern fill, browse for the kkdallyspots fill and set as fig 1 |

flood fill the selection and deselect. Add a new raster layer and call it "front leg". Go selections / load from disk and open the kkdallegf.sel. Flood fill with spots then go to colors / adjust / brightness-contrast set as fig 2...ok. |

Deselect the leg and add a new raster layer, call it "Back leg". Load kkdallegb.sel and flood fill with spots, repeat the colour adjustments as on front leg and deselect. Click on retouch tool, right click, select tool options and set as fig 3 / 3a |

Use the retouch tool on both legs, to darken from knee upwards as shading, making sure you are working on front leg and back leg layers as appropriate. (fig 4) |
Add new raster layer and call it "Body" load kkdalbody.sel. Open your pattern pallette and change settings as in fig 5 then flood fill body and deselect. |

Add a new raster layer and call it "Tail", load kkdaltail.sel and flood fill it with white then deselect. Add a new raster layer and call it "Ear", load kkdalear.sel and flood fill it with black then deselect. Add a new raster layer and call it "Nose", load kkdalnose.sel and flood fill it with black. Do not deselect but go effects / 3D effects / inner bevel, set as fig 6, ok. Now deselect. |

Add a new raster layer and call it "Eye". Load kkdaleye.sel and flood fill it with brown ( I used #572B2B) repeat inner bevel as for nose then deselect. Set colour pallette to dark grey, click paint brush, right click and set as fig 7. |

Go layers / merge / merge visible. Draw in lines to make toes and mouth. Reopen the retouch tool and change settings as in fig 8 / 8a. |

Carefully smudge around "shady" points as in fig 9 |

Add a new raster layer and call it "Collar". Add the kkdogcollar tube and place on your dal`s neck. Merge visible layers then go effects / enhance photo / clarify, set as fig 10, ok. |

Thats it, your very own dalmatian. Tube or save as psp image for future use. I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which is written for pspv 7 but should adapt for
other versions. |
