EXTRA QUICK MASKING IN PSP 8 |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
Well, the inevitable has happened, I have ventured into psp 8 and this is my first
v8 tutorial. This tutorial was written after I tried my "extra quick masking" in 8 to try to help someone having difficulty masking in 8. I couldn`t answer any questions until I tried it myself, so made the above image. As in my v7 extra quick masking, this is a quick tut as there are relatively few steps involved... this tutorial will show you how I made the above image. If you would like to use my mask CLICK HERE to download it. If you would like to use my photo right click and save to your hard disk. |

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which is written for PSP V 8 |
Open the image you want to mask in PSP 8. Now go layers - load / save mask, choose a mask and load it. If using my mask, make sure you select the "invert transparency" box as fig 1. |
Now go layers / new raster layer and apply as in fig 2. |
Next go layers / arrange / send to bottom. Now select your flood fill tool and set your background to solid colour, fill pattern or gradient of your choice. Right click to flood fill the mask. Now go layers / merge / merge visible... Thats it! Save your image! |

Ready ? let`s begin |

( as with this mask, some masks may be the opposite way round and won`t show properly
on your image. Simply inverting the transparency will correct this. If in doubt, invert transparency and apply the mask, if it`s not right, simply edit / undo mask, layers - load/save mask as before and uncheck invert transparency then apply.) |

For the above image I changed things slightly... I used a mask I got with PSP 8. Then instead of flood filling with colour/pattern/gradient, I filled with a texture. Next I added a sculpture effect (green weave) and finished off as before. |
