EASY~PEASY METALLIC TEXT SIG TAG |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
I devised this way of making metallic text sig tags after I learned to make my own
gradients, which then prompted me to practise with them and make some new name sig tags to use...... Here`s how I do it... |
Ready ?... here we go then... Start a new image as fig 1. |

( You can use any colour or even fill with pattern, but I think this metallic text looks best on black) Set your styles pallete foreground and background to gradient (fig 2) |
First, if you want my gold gradient CLICK HERE to download, unzip into your psp gradients folder. |

Open the pallette (double click on gradient sample in the pallette, shown in fig 2 under "styles") select the same gradient for both (eg: kkgold), set foreground as fig 3 and background as fig 4. |

Your styles pallette should now look like fig 5. |

Now go layers / new raster layer and set as fig 6. |

Click on text tool then click your canvas to open the text tool. Choose a font and
size it to fit your name on the canvas then type your name (fig 7) and click ok (fig 8) |

Do not deselect. Move the text to required position, then go effects / sharpen /
sharpen / effects / edge / enhance / selections / select none (fig 9) |

Change the background colour to any colour other than your current colour and the
foreground to null. Now go image / add borders. If you get a popup click yes and set the border as in fig10 and click ok. |

You will now have a border around your image. Click on magic wand, right click it and select tool options, set as fig 11 and close dialogue box. |

Click on the border to select it, keep it selected and change the styles pallette
to background null, foreground metallic as before, then click on the floodfill
tool then inside the selected border to fill with gradient (fig 12). Now go effects
/ sharpen / sharpen / effects / edge / enhance / selections / select none
and save your image. (fig 13) |

That`s it!!! You can always add tubes or decorations to make different versions, or even add sparkles and animate it. Try it with other gradients, and why not change the angle, invert or add "repeats"
when setting the gradient for different effects. |
I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which was written for psp v 7 but should adapt for
other versions. |
