PHOTO SELECTION ON BACKGROUND |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
I am a seriously keen amateur photographer and am as mad about photography as I am
P.S.P! I display my best photo`s on my website, and also enjoy adding special effects to some of them. When I added a photo selection to a background I thought it would make a nice tutorial too :-) You may use my photo for this tutorial only - or one of your own. Right click the photo below and save on your hard disk. |

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which is written for PSP V 7 but should work in
other versions. |
Ready ?... lets begin... |
Open your photo in psp. Click the selections tool, right click and select "tool options" make the settings as in fig 1. |
Drag the mouse to draw an octagon (or whatever shape you chose) around the main part of the photo fig 2) |
Now go edit / copy then deselect. Flood fill the photo with any solid colour, pattern or gradient. If you would like my pattern right click below and save on your computer. Open in psp and minimise (click minus (-) sign) You should now be able to use as a pattern fill. |
Now go edit / paste / as new layer then effects / 3D effects / inner bevel and apply as in fig 3. |
Now go effects / 3D effects / drop shadow and apply as in fig 4 |
Go back to effects / 3D effects / drop shadow and apply as in fig 5 |
Deselect then go effects / sharpen / sharpen then go layers / merge / merge all (flatten) Save it! That`s it, a really easy but effective image! |
