This is a beginner tutorial written by request... Thanks to Jenny for the idea. You don`t need any additional filters or files for this tutorial, just your own photo or graphic. In this tutorial I will show you how to make a tag like the one above. Ready?... let`s create our tag! |

Click on the text tool icon on the left toolbar then click on your canvas to open the tool. Choose your font from the drop down list (I`m using "Memento"...fig 10) |

Close the dialogue box by clicking on the x at the top. Holding the left mouse button down, draw downwards on the part of the photo you want to use, so a circle appears around the bit you want. Let go of the mouse button, (fig 3) |

Your image should now look like fig 6. |

Go up to "layers" then "new raster layer"...ok Click on the dropper tool on the left toolbar Right click on any light colour in your image then left click on any darker colour. Your foreground and background colours will now match your image (fig 9). |

Set the font size to suit your text, and if you want it bold click on "B". Click in the large window and type in your text Set everything else as in fig 11 and click ok. |

Use the mover tool to position your text to the bottom left of your image, slightly overlapping (fig 12) |

Now go up to "effects" then "3D effects" then go to "inner bevel" and set as fig 12a. |

Now right click the dropper tool on a medium shade colour in the image. Go to the styles palette on the right toolbar. Click on the little black arrow on your foreground colour (the top box) (fig 13.) |

Now click on the "null" icon (fig 13a) |

You should now have no foreground colour and the background as selected. Fig 14. |

Now go "effects" / "3D effects" / "drop shadow" then right click the current colour. Now click on the new colour you just selected. (fig 15) |

Make the settings as in fig 16 then click ok. (Your image will show beveled text...) |

Repeat the drop shadow but change the vertical and horizontal offsets to minus 3 (-3) (fig 17) |

Right click on the canvas to deselect. Go up to "layers" then "merge" then "merge all (flatten)" Set your selection tool as in fig 18 |

Draw a rectangle around your image removing any unwanted background Then go "edit" / "copy" then "edit" / "paste as new image" If it`s too big, go "image" / "resize" set as fig 19 (to your preferred percentage) |

If you make it smaller now go "effects" / "sharpen" / "sharpen" Once you are happy with it go "file" / "save as" give it a name and then choose a location on your computer. Save it as a jpg image. That`s it... your own selection tag :-) |
