TEDDY BEAR IN A JUMPER |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
My children bought me this gorgeous teddy bear for mother`s day, and having seen some lovely tutorials to make teddy bears- I wanted to see if I could make a tut for my bear...and here it is! Before we begin you will need my files zip, CLICK HERE to download. Unzip the selections folder into your PSP selections folder, and the fill pattern and psp image to a folder of your choice. |
Ready ?... let`s make our teddy... Start a new image as in fig 1 |

Open "kkteddybearfur.jpg" and minimise it. Set your foreground to pattern and load
the kkteddybearfur as in fig 2 / 2a |

Add a new layer ( layers / new raster layer) call it "ears". Go to selections / load from disk and open "kkears.sel". Activate your flood fill tool and left click inside selection to fill with fur effect then deselect (selections / select none). Add a new layer and call it "inner ears". Go to selections / load from disk and open "kkinnerears.sel". Set your background to light grey and right click inside selection to fill with grey. Now go effects / 3D effects / inner bevel and apply as in fig 2b. |

Deselect, add a new layer, call it "head". Load "kkhead.sel" and left click to fill with fur effect, deselect. Add a new layer and call it "body". Load "kkbody.sel" and fill with fur effect then deselect. Open the "kkteddyjumper" psp image and copy it (edit / copy) then go edit /paste as new layer and position it over the body. Add a new layer and call it "arms". Load "kkarms.sel" and fill with fur then deselect. Add a new layer and call it "legs". Load "kklegs.sel" and fill with fur then deselect. Add a new layer and call it "eyes". Load "kkeyes.sel" and flood fill with black. Go effects / 3D effects and apply inner bevel as fig 3 then deselect. |

Add a new layer and call it "muzzle". Load "kkmuzzle.sel" and fill with light grey then repeat inner bevel as in fig 2b, deselect. Add a new layer and call it "nose". Load 2kknose.sel" and fill with black, repeat inner bevel as in fig 3 then deselect. Add a new layer and call it "mouth". Load "kkmouth.sel" and fill with black. Apply inner bevel as in fig 4 then deselect. |

Add a new layer and call it "feet". Load "kkfeet.sel" and fill with light grey. Repeat inner bevel as in fig 2b then deselect. Make the legs layer active and go effects / 3D effects / drop shadow and apply as in fig 5 then deselect. |

Make inner ears layer active and repeat the drop shadow as before, then make the eyes layer active and repeat the drop shadow again. Now go layers / merge / merge visible. Activate your retouch tool and set it as in fig 6 /6a |

Carefully use the retouch tool to darken around where the head / ears / legs / body / arms etc meet up, like shading. (fig 7) ( I did mine quickly as an example, take as much care and time as you want to achieve your preferred shading) |

Now change the retouch tool settings as in fig 8 / 8a |

Carefully smudge out the fur, outwards from the edges of the bear, and inwards over
foot pads, ears, and where parts meet up etc, to make it look fluffy. (fig 9) ( again mine is a quick example, take as long as you want to achieve your preferred result.) |

Resize your bear if required ( the sample below is 65%) then go effects / sharpen / sharpen. That`s it, your very own cuddly teddy in a jumper! Tube him, save him, enjoy!!! |

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which was written for PSP7 but should adapt for
other versions. Close window to return to index If you didn`t come to this page from the tutorials index and want to go there now CLICK HERE |
