SOUVENIR TRAY PLATE Display your favourite photo`s on tray shaped"china"plates! |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
My father and I used to have a little home based business, glazing photo`s onto china
collectors items. I still have some of the ones we made for our "samples" display, and when looking at them the other day, thought how nice it would be to do something similar in PSP. So I have photographed them and hope to be able to digitally recreate them, then write tutorials so others can make them too!. I think this plate design looks particulary nice with scenic photo`s, although it`s up to you what you use. This is the seventh tutorial in the planned series, I hope you like it!... Before we begin you will need my files... CLICK HERE to download and unzip into your selections folder. You will also need your own photo and my golden fill, right click and save into a folder of your choice. Ready?... let`s create our tray plate! |

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which is written for PSP V 7 but should work in
other versions. |
Open a "landscape orientation" photo in psp, and minimise it. also open"kkgolden.jpg"... and minimise as well. Start a new image as in fig 1. |
Go layers / new raster layer / ok. Now go selections / load from disk... browse to find the folder "kktrayplatefiles" double click the folder then find "kktrayplate.sel" highlight it then click "open". Flood fill with white then deselect (selections / select none) Add a new layer as before and load "kktrayplategoldrim.sel". Set your background to pattern fill, double click the current pattern to open the pallette, then load "kkgolden" fill. (it should be at the top of the drop down choices.) Change the scale to 50% and leave angle set at 0. Click OK. Use the flood fill tool, right click to fill the selection with kkgolden. Now go effects / edge / enhamce then layers / merge / merge visible. Add a new layer then load "kktrayplateinner.sel" flood fill white then go effects /3D effects /drop shadow and apply as in fig 2. |
Repeat the drop shadow but change the horizontal and vertical offsets to -1, now go effects / blur / gaussian blur and accept default settings. Add a new layer and load "kktrayplatephotoedge.sel". Open your photo and go edit / copy, close the photo and go edit / paste into selection. Now go effects / sharpen / sharpen then apply a drop shadow as in fig 3. |
Repeat the drop shadow but change the horizontal and vertical offsets to - 3. Now go layers / merge / merge visible. That`s it, your own photo on a "china" tray shaped plate. Save it and enjoy! |
