EASY~PEASY WATER REFLECTION |
Paint Shop Pro Tutorials by Karen |
When I made a simple water reflection picture for one of our assignments, I was asked
many times how it was done... so I thought it would make a useful tutorial... Here`s how I make my water reflections... |
You will need a photo of water and suitable tubes. If you want my photo`s simply right click and save on your hard drive. (The photo`s are my own originals and they are copyrighted to me, they may not be used for any purpose other than working on this tutorial. Thankyou.) You can download the sun, lighthouse and rainbow tubes HERE. The bear is not one of mine, sorry. ( The lighthouse is actually on a base, simply remove what you don`t want either with the eraser tool or by selecting and deleting.) |

OK... Let`s begin... Open the photo you are using in psp and add a new layer (layers / new raster layer )as fig 1. |

Open your tubes tool and choose a tube, size it as appropriate for your chosen photo (fig 2) |

Close the tube tool dialogue box then click on the photo to add the tube, then use the mover tool to position it as required (fig 3) |

Now go edit / copy / edit / paste as new layer then image / flip. Use the mover tool to position the second tube as required (fig 4) |

If any of the second tube appears "out of the water" you can remove these bits with the eraser tool. Now go to view / toolbars and tick/check "layer pallette" then close the dialogue box. Change the opacity on layer 3 with the slider, to about 35% or to your preference (fig 6) |

Close the dialogue box. Something like this is what you should have (fig 7) |

Next go to effects / geometric effects / wave and apply as in fig 8. |

(You can alter the horisontal/vertical displacements, or alter the settings, to suit
your photo, depending on the amount and position of any waves or ripples in
the water.) If any of the tube has "jumped up" out of the water because of the last effect, simply
move it back down with the mover tool. Now go layers / merge / merge visible. That`s it... easy wasn`t it! |

If you want to add more tubes simply follow this tutorial from the beginning for each tube. |

Why not try with different photo`s and tubes... |

I hope you enjoyed this tutorial which was written fo PSP7 but should adapt for other
versions. Close window to return to index If you didn`t come here from the tutorials index and want to go there now CLICK HERE |
