Pendulum Divination works by asking questions which can be answered "Yes" or "No".
You will need a card with arrows showing the direction you prefer for "Yes" and "No",
I made myself this one on A4 card which I simply keep to use over again.

It may help if you first prepare your questions, write them down before you begin.
Also Before you start, as with any type of spiritual contact, you must first Protect Yourself.

Ready?

Once you have asked for protection, begin by holding the chain firmly but gently between your fingers, about 3 or 4 inches length is usually adequate. Too long or short and the pendulum may not be able to move freely or under control. Hold the pendulum roughly over the centre of your arrows.

You may find it helpful to gently rest your elbow on the table, after a while you will feel strain on your arm otherwise. You don`t want to restrict or control the pendulum, simply allow it to swing under it`s own momentum. Steady it between questions ready for the next answer if you need to, but don`t attempt to make it move yourself, keep your fingers, arm and wrist steady and still. Once you begin you should actually feel the chain responding and moving between your fingers before the pendulum moves.
Begin by asking if there is any spirit present who wishes to make contact. You might need to ask a few times and wait, if you feel the pendulum wants to move say "please continue",
the spirit may be waiting for permission from you to begin.
You could ask for the pendulum to start by showing you a "Yes" answer, then a "No" answer,
so you get used to the feel of the "active" chain between your fingers.
Your pendulum may swing slowly at first, and it might take some practice. You might be unsure of the answer to begin with and need to clarify, but often the swinging motion can be fast and definate.
It might also swing in a circle, this usually means the spirit doesn`t know the answer,
or is unsure of the question- try to re-word the question and ask again to see if it helps.
The questions asked is up to you, it is always a good idea to ask who the spirit is, ask if you know them, suggest a few names and wait for an answer after each. If you know the spirit then you might have specific questions you wish to ask of them. Eventually if the same spirit always comes through,
you will get used to their energy and how they work with the pendulum.
Usually spirits you know will come through, with this method it would be difficult to work
with others because you wouldn`t know what to ask them.
If you don`t already know them, ask if they are a guide, or a friend of someone you know then take it
from there. Next time make sure you ask your guardian to only allow your own spirits to come through,
there`s not much you can do with or for unknown spirits with this method anyway, and if you are just beginning, you should never work with or allow unknown spirits to contact you without the presence of and assistance of your guide/s anyway. Always ask for new spirits to come to you via your guide/s.
When the pendulum begins to slow down or struggle, it is a sign that the spirit is either tiring or pulling their energy away. Thank them for coming through and either close the session, or ask if any other spirit wants to come through. When you close down thank your guardian and guide/s for helping.
