Divining Rods are used as a form of spiritual communication, otherwise known as "Dowsing".
I ancient times Dowsers would use a Y shaped stick, much like the one in the graphic above... some still do to this day as it works just as well as the modern rods! The rods are held lightly, one in each hand facing away from the person holding them. Questions are asked which can be answered "Yes" or "No" by spirit. The rods in response to the questions. In our case the rods turn either outwards (indicating "No") or inwards crossing over each other (indicating "Yes"), but it is often different for others. If you wish to try them, always ask your rods to show you your personal "Yes" and "No" action! No movement either indicates no contact being made, or an uncertain answer. Another use for the rods, going back centuries, is to ask spirit or the rods to point you in the direction of a missing object or person, or water... following the response of the rods in order to find the subject. The photo below shows ladies using divining rods during a paranormal investigation at Craig Y Nos Castle, South Wales.
