Living with Spirits |
A lot of people will be cynical about what I have to tell, a lot of people will disbelieve
or even call me mental...but each story is true. I have many spiritual events to talk about, even some "minor" miracles which I believe to be a spirit trying to make contact or to show they are here. You may call them ghosts, aparitions, or whatever- but I prefer the word "spirit". My spiritual experiences began when I was very small, when my paternal grand father passed away........ |
Cold Hands When I was a baby, my parents, their German Shepherd dog Rory 1st and myself lived with my paternal grand father, in the house I grew up in and which my brother still occupies with his family. My grand father had been very ill for a long time, in fact, when I came along it was already too late and just a matter of time, but he managed to stay with us until I was small. He didn`t want to go, and vowed to my mother on his death bed that he will always be there for me- wherever I go and whenever I need him. This first story is one my mother has told me, I have no reason to disbelieve it. Well, my grand father died and was buried in his favourite grey flanel trousers. My parents moved me into his bedroom and brought me a brand new bed, wardrobe, dressing table and chest of drawers set. A few weeks later my mother was alone, ... my father was a long distance lorry driver and was away on a job, and I was in bed asleep. There was a thunder storm, and aparently although storms never bothered me, my grand father always insisted on being with me during them "just incase". Suddenly my mother could hear footsteps on the upstairs landing, going towards my bedroom, with the same sound as my grand father used to make scraping his slippers, she could also hear his unmistakeable laboured breathing and cough he had, which was caused by his poorly lungs. My mother stayed where she was until after the storm had passed, I hadn`t stirred and she knew I would be ok!. Then she went to bed herself. The next morning I awoke and began to tell my mother how grand-dad had come to see me during the night and how he liked my new bedroom suite. She told me I had been dreaming so not to alarm me, then I said how it was lovely to see him, but I do wish he wouldn`t put his cold hands on my arm!!!...... ********** Spirits In My Bedroom When I was about 11, I had the flu. I had been ill in bed for 3 days unable to even lift my head. During the 3rd night, I awoke to the feeling of having my forehead wiped or stroked, thinking it would be my mum or dad. I could see and feel a figure sitting on my bed next to me, and could also make out a dog sitting by the foot of the bed, panting, it was a German Shepherd. When my eyes focused I realised the person stroking my forehead was my grand father who died when I was 2, and the dog we had at the time was a Cross Breed, so the German Shepherd must have been Rory 1st who also died when I was a baby!. I remember speaking to my grand father, I wasn`t at all scared and felt honoured that he cared enough to make himself known to me in this way, but when I spoke he and the dog faded away into mist then vanished, the next day I was better and able to get up fully recovered!......... ********** Spirit On The Stairs When I was about 13 we had a "weird" night... dad was decorating my brothers tiny bedroom, ( which was grand-dads room, then mine, then my brothers shared it)...as it was so small dad decided to move their beds into his and mum`s room while working on it. I had the middle size room, but my cousin was on leave from the army, and he always stayed with us...he had my room, so I was also in with mum & dad... I had the younger brother`s bed, he slept in between mum & dad, the older brother had his own bed. I couldn`t sleep because mum moaned and grunted in her sleep, dad snored for England, the older brother dreamed and shouted out in his sleep and the younger brother ground his teeth all night!... eventually I couldn`t take any more, sat up and shouted at them all to please be quiet and let me get some sleep!. Seconds later our dog, Susie, started barking and going crazy downstairs... something she never did. She had a young puppy who was doing the same thing. I started crying as I thought we had burglers and was worried they would hurt the dogs, so dad got up and went to investigate to put my mind at rest!. He didn`t get far, he had put on the landing light and from the top of the stairs he called down "who are you? what are you doing here? go away back where you came from... ( I can`t put the rest, lets just say the language wasn`t very nice, lol) then he came running back into the room leaving the landing light on ( something he was always telling everyone else off for!) jumped into bed, covered his lower face with sheets and just lay there staring at the ceiling, terrified... when asked what was wrong he was unable to answer, he was frozen in fear. So mum and I got up, by now I was hysterical, the dogs were quiet so I thought they had been killed. When mum and I went downstairs, there was an odd chill in the air, but nothing to be seen. Susie was half way up the stairs sniffing, her hackles were standing right up on end... Tiny, the pup, was in their corner, his hackles were standing up as well and he looked just like dad, petrified- and like he`d been pinned against the wall, but it was how he had placed himself for support. We had a cup of coffee and sat downstairs until the dogs settled then went back to bed. Dad was still staring at the ceiling, the boys still sleeping noisily. When we turned off the landing light dad finally spoke, only to tell us to leave the light on...it stayed on at night for months!. The next day we went to see my grand mother, mum`s mum. Mum mentioned the night before, and unexpectedly, dad shouted "what would you do if you saw a f------ ghost coming up the stairs?!!!"... it was ages before anyone spoke, we were all in shock!... you see, dad was the biggest non believer there ever was...so if he said he saw a ghost, then he saw a ghost!. Later he said it had been my grand-dad ( his dad) and it was decided he had probably come because I was distressed.. when we got home my cousin had left a note, he had decided to cut his leave short and go back to the army... something he would never do. We think maybe grand-dad had intervened and made him do this so I could have my room back, although he doesn`t remember anything happening that night - he never asked to stay with us again! ********** Trousers And Mist When I was about 15, dad was decorating my room, so he put me in my brothers room and had them in with him, mum came in with me and we shared the bunk beds, me on top her on the bottom. One night There was a weird storm outside, there was lightning but no thunder and no rain, and there was an awful stuffy atmostphere. Mum and I both tried for ages to get to sleep. I was just drifting off when suddenly mum screamed... I got such a shock I flew under the covers before I asked what was up! ( I thought there was a spider or something!). . then I came out from the covers only to see the tail end of what looked like mist, floating out of the open window!. Dad came running in, looked at mum and said "you look like you`ve seen a f------ ghost!"... so then mum said "I did!". Dad went pale and took himself back to bed, not wanting to hear any more!. mum got up and said she was going for a coffee, so I went with her. Then she told me how she had opened her eyes to see grey flannel trousers, complete with the knee cap shape, right in front of her eyes, she could see everything else in the room except where the trousers were, they blocked the view. she instantly and instinctively screamed before she realised what was going on... normally she isn`t worried about spirits and always says she would like to see one, she had heard grand-dad lots of times. Afterwards we realised this would have been grand-dad, the combination of the storm, me not being able to sleep and being in what used to be his room, had brought him to us. If I had turned over instead of going under the covers, I would have seen his face!... ********** Soldier Says Goodbye Susie had another puppy after Tiny. We kept him as she was getting old and probably wouldn`t be with us much longer. We lost her at 16 when the puppy, Soldier, was about 4. Soldier lived to 17. The day he was put to sleep, we brought him home to bury him in the garden. He was laying on the sofa in his box, while we were all grieving for him. Soldier had a unique little bark, which was unmistakeable... suddenly we all heard his bark coming from the back door. Without thinking, we went to the door as if to let him in, even the other dog we had and the 2 cats heard it and went to the door with us!... it was the sort of bark he would give when outside wanting to come in...but he was not there... suddenly there was a cool breeze from nowhere, it rushed round us all then was gone. We believe this was Soldier, come to say goodbye!... ********** The Rainbow When I was 19, someone I cared very much for died. He was from Wales and the funeral was held in his home town. My uncle volunteered to take mum and I to the funeral. However, he had never been to Wales before, and on the way there we got lost, we were up high on a mountain road, looking down over a valley, there were no street signs and nothing to tell us where we were. The weather was dry and bright, though not sunny. Suddenly we saw a rainbow down in the valley, the end of it hit the ground and splashed back up like an arrow ( remember, it was dry and not sunny!)... we followed the "arrow" and ended up at the cemetary where we needed to be, once we got there the rainbow faded away without trace!... ********** The Sweet Shop When I worked in a sweet shop/newsagents, there was a resident spirit. Some of the staff were scared, others didn`t believe it. I was the only one who believed and wasn`t scared. I used to acknowledge it and speak to it when I sensed the presence. I have a few tales to tell of the sweet shop spirit... 1... The Loft Hatch The staff room was at the top of the shop which was a converted three storey town house. In the staff room was the loft hatch... the hole in the ceiling giving access to the loft/attic. There was a wooden "door" which opened up into the loft/attic, which was always kept shut tight. One day I was in the staff room with my friend, when I started talking about spirits. She said she didn`t believe in such rubbish, but when she said that, the door to the loft hatch opened up and a big draught came out. We knew there was no one up there and there was no way anyone could have got in to the loft from neighbouring shops. My friend got up from her chair and fled down the stairs almost a whole flight at a time in one go! I stood there just acknowledging the spirit and the draught faded away. Later someone told us there was a girl who lived in the building when they were houses, her boyfriend finished with her and she hung herself from the loft hatch!... now at least I knew the spirit was female, and probably very sad and very lonely, and calling out for attention.... 2... The Coke Can The shop had a refit. We were refilling all the shelves ready to reopen. Someone mentioned the spirit, but the manageress didn`t like the subject and said something like "don`t be stupid, there`s no such thing, if it came near me I would tell it to f--- off"!!!... as soon as she had said it, a can of coke fell off the shelf, split open, and with the force of the gas "chased" her around the shop... she was covered in sticky coke, and she couldn`t escape the can, wherever she went it followed... me and a couple of others couldn`t help laughing!!!... that told the manageress not to be rude about the spirit... after all, that was her home!!!... 3... The Tap And The Clock One of my friends in the shop liked the same singer as me, I ran his fan club and invited her to join me and mum to see his stage musical. On the day, she was working but I wasn`t, so I arranged for mum and me to meet her after work and go from there. While waiting for her to finish and get ready, mum and me sat in the staff room having coffee and talking. I mentioned the spirit because I knew mum would be interested, I didn`t realise a new young saturday girl was next door in the toilet, until she came out, looked at me, grabbed her coat and ran, she never came back!. I assumed she had heard what I said, but maybe she experienced something, I don`t know!. Anyway, mum went to the toilet. I didn`t know, but she was planning to sneak up on me and spray me with water... only she squealed and came back in the room wet... the tap had turned itself on and somehow sprayed all over her!. After we stopped laughing about it, my friend was ready and we started to get ready to leave. Mum looked up at the clock on the wall, and said we were leaving it a bit late. I told her the clock had no batteries and hadn`t worked for months, but mum said she had seen the hands moving and pointed out it showed the right time... I took it off the wall and showed her the battery compartment was empty...it didn`t have an alternative electricity supply, but she was right, the hands did move and it did show the right time!... 4...The Kettle One day my friend and I were on tea break. She went to the toilet and I went to get a snack before going upstairs. When I went in the staff room, the kettle was already boiling, and when my friend came in I thanked her for putting it on ready...she told me she had gone straight to the toilet and hadn`t boiled the kettle. Thinking someone else had put it on, when we went downstairs we asked who did because it was only us on break...no one had been upstairs or touched the kettle!... 5... The Glass One day I was on tea break alone. Someone had washed some cups and glasses and left them upside down on the drainer to dry out. I thought I heard someone in the toilet so started talking...just then one of the glasses on the drainer started moving by itself... the thing is, mum and me used to use glass divination to communicate with our spirits... the glass on the drainer moved in much the same way, but no one was near it!... 6... The Chocolates And The Shelf In two seperate incidents I had a close shave in the shop. Once a huge pile of chocolate bars in the boxes fell and should have hit me...instead the boxes just went over my head and I was left standing in the middle... another time a metal shelf fixture collapsed, it should have hit me too, but somehow I was left standing in the middle of the twisted wreckage!... I believe my guardian angel and my special spirit companion had a lot to do with me coming to no harm on these days, especially as the night of the chocolate incident an old man told me he could see an angel next to me... but maybe my spirit friend in the shop also helped... after all, I was the only one who accepted her existance and tried to befriend her! ********** Dad`s Fall Out Of Bed As previously mentioned, mum and me used to use glass divination. Dad hated it so we always waited until he was in bed asleep. One night we were communicating with my friend who died when I was 19 (he was 24). We could hear dad`s snoring coming through the ceiling (his and mum`s room was directly above the lounge where we were). It got worse, and we couldn`t concentrate, one of us said something about it, I can`t remember who, but when we said it, the glass went still and there was no sense of any spiritual presence, then suddenly dad fell out of bed then almost immediately my friend`s presence returned to the glass!. Dad came down stairs, stood in the doorway rubbing his head looking confused, didn`t say anything and I don`t think he even realised what we were doing or where he was, then he went back to bed and we heard nothing more from him all night!!!... ********** Dad`s Eyes Dad died suddenly in 1991. Mum, my brothers and I went to see him in the funeral parlour. He looked peaceful but mum said she wished she could see a sign from him that he was still around. While we were standing there, his eyes opened slightly, no one had touched him!... ********** Dad`s Rose When we buried dad, mum, my brothers and me threw red roses into the grave on top of the coffin before the grave was filled in. Mine and my brothers ones landed almost side by side, mum`s one went the other way up, then suddenly seemed to stop in mid air, turn around and land with the others facing the same way and all laying practically side by side as before... there was no wind, no breeze, and no one near them!... ********** Message On A Car Because dad died suddenly and unexpectedly, we hadn`t had a chance to say goodbye to him, and because dad was not religious and was a non believer in spirits or life after death, we were worried that his spirit may not be at peace or settling in properly. One day I was cycling to work and dad was on my mind as usual. Suddenly a car came out of a turning right out in front of me. I was annoyed at the driver`s lack of care in almost knocking me off my bike, so I looked at the number plate planning to report the offense in case he was likely to actually cause an accident another time. What I saw took my breath away... I didn`t see a number plate, I saw a message...it actually read "DAD 15 OK" but I saw it as "DAD IS OK"...I forgot to report it after all!. When I got home that night I told mum and my brothers about it, I felt it was a message from dad telling me he was happy, so I wasn`t so worried about him after that and better able to concentrate at work. My brothers didn`t seem to believe me and they were still worrying about dad. A few days later the older one came home and said he had seen the car, and how he finally felt dad was happy...and a few days later the younger one saw it too and felt the same. Incidentally, all 3 times, the car appeared suddenly and vanished just as suddenly once it was seen!. Dad knew we had a habit of reading number plates and making something of them, because we had made up a game we played in dad`s car to take boredom off long journeys, where we would try to make words or sentences from number plates!. Mum never did see the car, but felt happier knowing we all had, and as she says, he wasn`t her dad, so he wouldn`t give her that particular message... she is still hoping one day she might see that or another message on a car!... ********** Action Man When my son was little, he told me he had seen action man in his bedroom the night before. I thought he had been dreaming about his toys, but then he pointed to a photo of my dad in his army uniform, and said..."look, there`s action man"... Dad had died before my son was born, and was buried in the uniform he was wearing in the photo. He was always wearing army clothes anyway, so it made sense that if my son were to see his spirit, he would be wearing a uniform...and that my son who was only about two, should think of him as action man!!!... ********** Soldier Comes To Visit When my daughter was about three, she asked me not to close her bedroom door because the dog couldn`t get in. We didn`t have a dog, we lived in a tiny upstairs flat, but she insisted the dog came into her room every night and slept with her!. One day I was looking at old photo`s, my daughter picked up one of Soldier and told me that he was the dog who slept with her every night... Soldier had died in 1991, my daughter wasn`t born until 1995!... but when he was alive he did used to sleep with me in the same bed my daugher was using at the time!... ********** One Weird Day Let me tell you about one particularly active day in my house, just under 6 months after we moved in. It all started when my daughter came downstairs at about 8.30, and switched on the light in the lounge. It didn`t light up the room, instead the glass of the light bulb popped out of the metal bayonet- that holds the whole thing in the electrical part and makes it work. The glass didn`t break, which normally it would shatter, probably all over my daughter or whoever was in the way of it!... it just came out in one piece and landed on the armchair. Well, we just thought it was a strange "one of those things", but it was the first thing of many in that day. After breakfast, hubby was in the bathroom having a shave. He came out and asked who came in the bathroom, no one had, we were all in the lounge, even the dog. The reason he asked was because the toilet lid had closed behind him( I am always nagging him to close it, typical man!)... and one of the little bathroom mats on the floor behind him moved, both of which he had seen in the mirror, but couldn`t make out anyone who could have been in the room!. Later on, hubby was going to the market to buy some food to stock the freezer. St David`s Day was coming up, and our daughter needed a traditional national costume for school. He saw one on sale just the right size, and something made him buy it, even though it meant he didn`t have enough money left for the food. When she tried it on she looked lovely, and I said to her how her Welsh grand parents who died before she was born, would have been proud to see her in it. I took some photo`s before she got changed back into her everyday clothes. While she was changing, hubby and I decided to have a cup of coffee and sit down for a little while. I was on a chair and hubby was on the sofa. The children were upstairs playing, the dog was laying in his corner, nowhere near the sofa. Suddenly hubby jumped up and looked over the back of the sofa to tell whoever was pushing it, to stop in case they hurt themselves or break the sofa (thinking one of the children had creeped downstairs and were messing about!)... no one was there. Aparently the sofa had moved while he was sitting on it, unfortunately I didn`t see it as I was watching tv, but I could see where the feet had been by the dents on the carpet, and how visibly shaken hubby was. Next hubby gave me my coffee from the coffee table, it was still very hot. He picked his up and it was stone cold, he sat down looking at it when the handle came off the cup... he was covered in cold coffee that should have been boiling hot, he would have been scolded!... there was nothing wrong with the cup before that, I always throw out any with cracks and chips. Now we were beginning to realise this was going to be no ordinary day, but it wasn`t over yet! Things settled down and we started talking about when we were younger. We got onto the subject of the sweets we used to like. Here in UK there are two types of sweets called "Rainbow Drops"... one type are like chocolate discs covered in tiny "hundreds & thousands" candy confetti... the other are puffed rice covered in different coloured coating. Hubby said how he likes the chocolate ones best, I said I prefer the rice ones. This conversation took place around 2pm, because we checked the clock because we were going his brother`s house that evening and we still had to go shopping, having not got any earlier!. We got ready to go, and at about 2.30 went to put the answering machine on when we saw there was a new message. I had been home all day and the phone had not rung once, yet someone had phoned and left a message... and the answering machine was not even switched on at the time! ... We played it back and it had been hubby`s cousin. He had got in his car in England early in the morning, to go for a drive but not really any particular destination in mind. Next thing he knew he was in Wales looking for our house and couldn`t find it. He phoned and left the message hoping hubby would call him back intime...when he didn`t he decided to go back thinking we were away because it was weekend... he had phoned at 8.30 am, about the time Siān had turned on the light!... he was already almost home when hubby phoned him, he phoned back later to say his car had "died" just as he got home, and he was told he was lucky as it couldn`t be fixed quickly, it was a big workshop job... if he had found us and it happened here, he would have been stranded here and unable to get home easily ready for work the next day!... almost as if someone stopped him getting here and sent him home! Well, shopping went smoothly and we put away the groceries then had our teatime meal then watched a bit of tv. We got ready to go to the inlaws at about 6.30 as we normally get there between 7 and 7.30, it`s about 10-15 minutes drive. We got there just after 7pm. I helped my sister in law do some coffees while hubby started to tell his brother about the day`s events. We took the coffees into the lounge, then my sister in law went out of the room and came back with a bag and gave it to the children. They always buy them sweets when we visit. Hubby`s brother started to say how they couldn`t decide on which sweets to buy, so they got a bag of each so they can share them out... when we saw what they were I nearly choked on my coffee, one bag of chocolate rainbow drops, one bag of rice ones!...hubby asked what time did they buy them and they said it must have been about 2pm as they just put their daughter on the 2 o clock bus, which had been unusually 5 minutes early!...this was about the time hubby and I had been talking about the rainbow drops at home!. We then told them about all the things that had happened that day...but it wasn`t over yet. When we got home at about 9.30, the children went to bed and I remembered the photo`s I had taken earlier. I uploaded them on the computer and started to look at them. When I got to my daughter in national costume, there was an orb next to her in the first one, taken just as I had said her Welsh grandparents would have been proud!!!....well, they were here!... there were 2 orbs in the other photo`s, though not as clear. I had taken the photo`s without changing my position or anything, yet the orbs were in different positions, different clarity, and different sizes in each pic and had clearly been moving around! I stayed on the computer because I had all day`s emails etc to catch up on. Hubby went to bed. The computer in situated so the tv is to my right,I can just about see the tv if I look over to it. The sofa is behind me to the right, with the armchairs one each end of it on slight angles, and behind the sofa is a gap to walk through, then the stairs. I glanced over to the tv and saw someone come down the stairs out of the corner of my eye, walk round the back of the sofa and round to the armchair and sit in the chair. I thought it was hubby unable to sleep and went to speak to him, but there was no one in the chair or in the room! I got myself ready and went to bed!!!! ********** Cat Ghost One evening hubby and I were watching TV. He was on the sofa and I was in one of the armchairs. Suddenly all down my right arm I felt icy cold and tingly. I looked at hubby and told him I think I have a spirit close to me. I don`t know why but I got up from the chair and grabbed my digital camera, stood behind the sofa and took a few photo`s of the chair I had been sitting in and all around it. I then put the photo`s straight onto the computer. On some are orbs, and in one possibly a small ectoplasm at the foot of the wall... in another, a strange blurry object around the arm of the chair where I had been sitting...but in the next one there is a definate cat shape on the chair arm, appears to be looking towards me/the camera. I couldn`t explain why this photo out of them all, and all the hundreds from this camera before and since, is unusually blurred... not the kind of blurring from camera shake or movement, and I know I held the camera still...and in any case, even pics taken from moving vehicles using this camera have been clear!. Having sent the photo to various psychic friends, several have said that the cat was probably draining energy from the camera making the photo blur, and I did have to change the dead but brand new batteries immediately after taking the photo so it makes sense!... some people can also see a man in the photo holding the cat... I have yet to find him but I do believe them because several people, who don`t know each other, have said exactly the same thing and given the same description! ********** Rainbows Since moving to Wales I have had several more very important very significant rainbows. The person who I believe is .making them for me is in spirit. He actually told me once with glass divination that he would love to paint a rainbow in the sky just for me... and I believe this is exactly what he does. All the special rainbows have been bigger, brighter, more spectacular than any normal rainbow could ever be. They are always close enough to touch or at least feel energy vibrating from them. They are always either the whole rainbow or the end of a rainbow, or both... which are both very rare to see, I certainly had never seen either until the arrow one, but now I am used to it. They usually appear on specific dates or if I am feeling a bit depressed, sort of "don`t worry, I am here" and I immediately feel the uplift from this awesome sign from one very very important and extremely special friend...who I now call my "Rainbow Angel". His rainbows don`t need certain weather or lighting conditions, they just appear, and they stay for a very long time. The most recent ones were one around my birthday... I took the children to school and on the way home suddenly felt a bit unhappy without really knowing what for... suddenly I saw a rainbow come across the houses and the end of it landed a few feet from me in the school field. I could feel the energy from it, but couldn`t get to it as the school field is locked when not in use. I ran home to grab my camera, worried it would fade away I went in the garden and watched it, I took lots of photo`s from the garden and from inside the house... at least 15 minutes later as it was still there, I went back to the school field and photographed the rainbow`s end... then it slowly faded away. The next one was when I was horse riding, I was galloping up the mountain path where we gallop the horses, suddenly a rainbow came from right across the valley, spanning across the entire country park and landing right in front of me... I had no choice but to ride right through it. Charlie`s mane shimmered all colours and I felt all warm and tingly, it was one of the most wonderful experiences I have ever had, but unfortunately for obvious reasons I was unable to photograph it, Another one was around the anniversary of my friend`s death. We went to his grave so I could pay my respects and I had an overwhelming urgency to go to the reservoir nearby, which I have been told he had loved to visit in life. When we got there I saw a beautiful rainbow across the sky, but it was far away and behind the mountains in the distance, so I thought at first it was a coincidence... but when we started walking back to the car my husband turned round and said to me... I don`t want to alarm you but that rainbow is following you... I looked and it was true, it had come round the mountain and was getting closer, by the time we got to the car it was just a few feet from me, the end of it in the water and it was pulsating energy. I took loads of photo`s and couldn`t bring myself to come away, I was mesmerised. When I put the photo`s on the computer I am ashamed to say I hadn`t noticed anything but the rainbow (apart from another paler one a few feet from it)... but when I showed it to a spiritualist friend she told me she can see the face of my "Rainbow Angel" close to the rainbow. She knew nothing about him apart from his first name, but she described him and his chosen profession perfectly, and when she told me, I saw him myself. Hubby did comment that day how usually people go looking for rainbows...but rainbows go looking for me (lol, I guess they do!) ********** Well, thats it for now... all these are true stories, I realise some people won`t believe it but that`s their problem!... I am sure I will think of other experiences to add later, I have a feeling I have missed something out!... keep checking back as not only might I remember something else, I might even have new tales to tell!!!
